Tom's 23rd birthday was on Friday and we all wanted to do something for him, so after putting our heads together....we figured out that we should just throw Tom a little party with some great fellowship and cake on Saturday. I don't have pictures of the event because my camera is somewhere unknown to me, but I can share some pretty awesome stories with you about the Tom that I know. I can recall some very funny moments, like the time when we went out to eat and he figured he'd try some tomatoes (knowing he doesn't like them) and spit it out so fast...I laughed for a long time that night. The time I left my x-rays on the top of my car and started to drive down the road.....Tom then looked at me and said,"what was that thing that just flew off of your car?", we went running across 401 and got the damaged x-rays...we laughed at that one for a while. When my birthday was not the greatest day, I received a call from Tom and had a cake and dinner......that is the Tom that all of us know and love :) When I needed a friend Tom has been there with a cup of coffee and kind, encouraging words.
The party was such a surprise. After meeting Josh at Mike and Tom's....Shelly and I started to help set things up. After looking at the party banner and birthday themed cups and hats....I realized Josh had gotten the "Princess Theme".....Tom had a princess party..lol It was so great! Seeing Tom and family come toward the apartment we hurried to get behind the couch, but when Tom was having a hard time getting the door open.....Shelly realized that she locked the wrong lock....we were laughing so hard, but managed to keep it low enough that Tom heard nothing. By the time everything was said and done Tom walked in, a very surprised person. We all transferred things over to our place because of the heat situation at the Passaro's ;) The cake was great....and fellowship was even better! We laughed at funny pictures of Josh and while we were laughing Shelly got some awesome snapshots of us all red faced and cracking up. The party wound down some and we all went to bed satisfied in how things went so well.
I sat back and focused on how much the Lord has given me. Seeing people I knew nothing of in what seems like an eternity ago, and now are people that mean so much to me. They all have a special place in my heart. Through them, the Lord has shown me how precious friendship really is. Gifts given to us because of His never ending love! Amazing! The Lord can satisfy in the smallest of ways......just goes to show you how great He is!
Words from a social worker questioning life, faith, and process. A fierce mama of two amazing boys. Grab a seat, and a cup of coffee.. we’ll be here for a while.
