Super Bowl...Conviction...PLUS a Bag of Chips!

So, Super Bowl Sunday - I've seen grown men get so angry, happy...(the almost crying happy) and eat more than I know they could handle just because it was free. A special time of fellowship? Sure, I agree that it's an awesome time for people who love sports to get together. What I am confused about is as follows.... When we wake up on Sunday mornings...are we as enthused by the word of God like we are when our favorite team is in the lead? Are we angry at our own sin? Feeling a sense of betrayal and hurt when sin is set before us, as we are when we see our team that was just in the lead fumble the ball the second time causing a major set back in catching up with the opponent?

Upon opening your eyes in the morning and breathing in the first fresh breath (aside from the disgusting morning breath)do we recognize that without our Maker, it was impossible? Are we that excited to live for Him as we are when you see your team win the Super Bowl??

This is so convicting for me and not because I love football, but because I don't put God at the top of my list as I should....when I praise Him, it's an awesome praise - straight from my heart, but do I or any of you praise Him as much as we praise that team who won the Super Bowl?

Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 9:24, "do you know that in a race all the runners compete, but only one receives the prize? So, run that you may obtain it."

Are we running - charging - leaning - aiming towards the correct prize in our lives?

David, in Psalm 35:3 says, "draw the spear and javelin against my pursuers! Say to my soul, "I am your salvation!" " I love this quote!!

To know and have the faith to remind yourself through a prayer - that God is indeed our very salvation!! PSSHHHHHHHH!!! AWESOME!!
