Many of you know that I am engaged. Most of you do not know the story of how this all came to be. Well, here's the story of the night we got engaged along with a picture of my beautiful ring :)
It all started when we decided to go out for a hike one evening after work. Sean picked me up and we were on our way to High Point, NJ for an awesome hike and dinner that he had fixed up for us.
We get to the park that I asked Sean to check and make sure was opened the time we were planning on going. The gate is closed and we were apparently not going to eat nor hike. There was an "I told you to make sure it was going to be open for our hike." in there somewhere I believe ;)
We spotted a quiet little place across the street from the park and Sean turned the car around to park there. We were there for about 3 minutes when a huge white van speeds over. I yelled to Sean,"OH GOSH! LOCK THE DOORS!!" He reaches over locks all the doors and rolls his window down a millimeter. The guy in the van yells,"ya can't be here! Park's closed!Ya gotta move outta here!". So we drive away a tad discouraged and hungry.
Not knowing what Sean was planning, I was a tad annoyed due to being hungry, but Sean was nervous. He says, "I.....I don't know what to do now, we have to pull over into the shopping center so I can collect my thoughts." I really couldn't understand what the big deal was. "So we find another place to eat, or WAIT! I know! That site stop off of 84 is beautiful when the sun is setting. Let's go there!"
We get to the exit ramp and I spotted a nice spot to watch the lights of the city and Sean decides to not park there but to park next to a guy who looks like Charles Manson! This guy stared at me like he was going to kill me. It was so creepy! By this time we both agreed that this was the worst date we had ever been on together. We were both pretty hungry so we scarfed our food down and raced out of there to get away from "scary guy in the car next to us".
On the way back to my place Sean decided to stop at the park in Otisville. We walked and talked for a bit and all the while, he tells me over 30 times how much he loves me. Now, I do appreciate how much he loves me, but over 30 times... in a row? I said, "Sean, I know you love me sweetie and I love you too!"
We start walking back to the car when I spotted a cool fire pit and a really pretty tree near it. I started to see if I could balance myself on one of the logs surrounding the pit. While I was doing that, Sean told me how much he loved me again and asked me to turn around for a second. I turn around to see him on one knee and his iPhone "flashlight" app shining on the ring in his hand.
My reaction is as follows: "NO WAY! NO WAY!! OH MY GOSH!! I KNEW YOU WERE GOING TO ASK ONE DAY, BUT OH MY GOSH!"
At this point he goes on to tell me how much he loves me and then he asked me to be his wife :) I cried and said yes and then we prayed that God be glorified through us in this time of being engaged.
There you have it.... that's our crazy story!

The craziness isn't over yet, the crazy part is that one night we're filling out all of the info for our wedding site and he writes this as I'm falling asleep waiting fir him to finish the "description" section. Sean's a perfectionist when it comes to writing. He wrote this:
What I love about my fiancée:
"Patricia is a woman to whom I can attribute many desirable traits. I definitely can't list them all, but I'll start with the ones that first come to mind.
First and foremost, we have her personality/faith (since I feel they are irreversibly linked). She's a survivor and one of the toughest women I have ever met. Her trials have only served to forge a passion for God that is unmistakably sincere.
When I look at Patti, I see the amazing woman described in Proverbs 31. Humble and beautiful, but in no way a pushover. Unlike me, she's direct and to the point and I love this about her. While I can spend hours trying to negotiate or coax, she gets right to the root of things. I need someone to direct me when I get a bit sidetracked and she's perfect for me!
Second, we have her gorgeous brown eyes that I so easily get lost in. In those "windows," I see not only her love for me, but how amazingly beautiful her soul is. The amount of passion and love contained in those radiant orbs is staggering, and I love her all the more for it.
Finally (a.k.a. Third), we have her physical allure. Don't worry, I'm not going into crazy detail I am not lying when I say she is the most beautiful woman I have had the fortune of laying eyes on. Everything from her amazing hair, to her beautiful olive skin, and her pretty toes is a wonderful gift from God. She was fashioned for me, right? I like to think so! I think I'll stick with that for now.
I hope this somewhat sums up the amazing woman I'm going to be marrying. She will make a fantastic wife and I'm very excited to spend the rest of my life with a true woman of God."
After reading this I teared up a bit. Not only realizing that my description was about 4 sentences long!! lol But, I saw how much God loves me. How blessed I have been. No amount of stress or chaos can take away the great things God has done and continues to do. This is just the beginning!!
Each morning I open my eyes, I can't help but smile and thank the Lord for the grace and mercy extended to me. Praise be to God!!
