Acts 2:42-47 "They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved."
As we look at the scripture of the believers who met together as the early church, I get a picture of a group of people I would want to hang out with. These people were enjoying life together. Verse 46 says they were meeting together with GLAD and SINCERE hearts and verse 47 says they were, "ENJOYING the favor of all the people and PRAISING God". This was not a group of believers who were gossiping, complaining, negative, bitter or critical. This was a group of people whose attitudes pleased God so much that he added to their number daily those who were being saved.
There are many things we are trying to accomplish in life, we all have hopes, dreams and goals, but my questions is: If we are not enjoying the journey, what is the point?
Many times we can become so focused on the end result of things that we grow frustrated in the process of trying to make it happen. Yet, if we lose our joy, will we even be able to appreciate the end result? We have nothing to lose if we are enjoying the journey God has us on, because even if we don’t meet our goals - at least we had fun trying!
I believe God poured out his blessings on the early church because they kept glad and sincere hearts. God wants more believers who are enjoying life, staying lighthearted and having fun in the process. Not only does it please God, it attracts people!
Don’t let your circumstances rob your joy or a condition of your heart block the flow of joy in your life. Chose to forgive, let go, trust God and enjoy life!
