What Would You Do?

Unfortunately, I have to watch CNN from time to time. However, I was somewhat happy I was able to watch it yesterday.

The sad case of Jessie Davis and unborn child's murder by ex-cop and boyfriend, Bobby Cutts Jr. has been widely televised. I was really sad for the Davis family and for all involved, but there was something so awesome in the sentencing of Mr. Cutts Jr.

The family members of Jessie Davis were able to share some things in the court room while cameras were rolling. I couldn't find the video, but I did find the article of what Jessie's mother had to say:

And, tears rolled down Cutts' face as Davis' mother, Patricia Porter, spoke of her grief. "There are mornings I have to cover her picture up, when I can't get out of bed."
She continued, "I serve an amazing God, Bobby. A God that forgives and heals and restores people. And all I know today is that I do forgive you, and I know it is only through him that I am able to do that."
But she turned the other cheek: "I may not have family to go home to after this, but I pray that you make a way for him to get out of there and begin a new life, and to be able to hold his son."
Porter, who is raising Blake, told Cutts the child "knows what you did. You would not believe the stories he has told us."

What courage and trust Patricia Porter has in our God! I can't say that I would ever be able to say those words to someone who has caused so much pain for me and my family.

I am reminded of how Jesus pleaded for God to forgive those who were persecuting Him (Luke 23:34)

What courage to act not on her own accord, but to voice what she knows as the truth of God's love.

I give this woman "mad props!" as they say up here.
