Music You Forgot You Had...

I had an old mix CD I made a while back. You know those CD's you keep in a box because you've moved on to an mp3 player or satellite radio? Yeah... those!

I didn't know what was on the CD, so I put it in my CD player in the car on my way to work this morning. Some, not so great music was on that CD, but there was one song I had forgotten about that made me sit in the car at work praising God for His unfailing love.

This song isn't ancient. It's not even considered "old". I love how the artist lays it all on the table and refuses to candy coat our selfish relationship with the things we desire over God. The ways we treat God, most times... it's a heartbreaking reality that we are so unworthy, yet made righteous and still have things to complain about..

"If you could love me as a wife
and for my wedding gift, your life
Should that be all I'd ever need
or is there more I'm looking for?

Should I read between the lines
and look for blessings in disguise
To make me handsome, rich, and wise
Is that really what you want?

I am a whore I do confess
I put you on just like a wedding dress
and I run down the aisle
I run down the aisle
I'm a prodigal with no way home
I put you on just like a ring of gold
and I run down the aisle to you

So could you love this bastard child
Though I don't trust you to provide
With one hand in a pot of gold
and with the other in your side

I am so easily satisfied
by the call of lovers so less wild
That I would take a little cash
Over your very flesh and blood

I am a whore I do confess
I put you on just like a wedding dress
and I run down the aisle
I run down the aisle
I'm a prodigal with no way home
I put you on just like a ring of gold
and I run down the aisle to you

Because money cannot buy
a husband's jealous eye
When you have knowingly deceived his wife

I am a whore I do confess
I put you on just like a wedding dress
and I run down the aisle
I run down the aisle
I'm a prodigal with no way home
I put you on just like a ring of gold
and I run down the aisle to you"
