Have You Pledged??....

"Put away perversity from your mouth; keep corrupt talk far from your lips"
(Pr. 4:24).

"Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen" (Eph. 4:31)

I went to an expo my boss an I ran for our company along with others last week. I saw our PR representative wearing a beautifl shirt. It had many words and following those words in the center of the shirt the word 'RESPECT' in red.

We discussed the campaign that we just began supporting. It's to rid the derogatory use of the 'R-word'. For those of you who are still stumped, it's the word
'retard(ed)'.

I recall as a kid growing up around this word and using it to refer to someone as to call them 'stupid'. For some reason kids thought it sounded "more funny" to use the R-word. As you start to grow up, you begin to realize ho hurtful this word really is. Not only to those who may not even have a disability, but to those who really do. How horrible are we that we can hurt people we have never met?

After discussing things and really feeling as if I should do something, I took the pledge to rid the derogatory use of the R-word!

It is not something that I just thought, "hey, I'm going to do this because everyone else is doing it." It's in God's Word that we are to love one another with the love of Christ. "since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another."
(1 John 4:9-11).

So - have you pledged today?? http://www.r-word.org/
